Nelson Place Elementary School

Worcester, Massachusetts

The new Nelson Place Elementary School project consists of a new pre-kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school, constructed behind the existing, fully-occupied Nelson Place School. This project was successfully completed just behind the existing school without causing disruption to the school or the surrounding neighborhood. At its closest point, the new building was erected only 55 feet from the former school building. Utilizing “blackout hours,” Fontaine restricted construction vehicle and delivery traffic to specific times to ensure that there were no interruptions to the school day.

“It was a great collaboration between the construction company, the architects, and the school system. We had no impact. We ran our school days like we normally did.”
