WNEC Celebrates Grand Opening of the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy

Fontaine Bros. has delivered the new Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy for Western New England College, on time and under budget. The 125,000 square foot building was completed in 15 months. The building will be home to the College's pharmacy program as well as the biology, chemisty, physics, and psychology departments.
As the Construction Manager, Fontaine worked with the Architect, Tessier Associates, and Western New England College to ensure that the building satisfied the College's needs, was constructible, and came in within the Guaranteed Maximum Price.
Though the project did not pursue formal LEED Certification, the building was designed with many "green" features including solar panels, low-flow fixtures, VOC free paints and adhesives, and low-E glass.
The project marks the third recent project that Fontaine has had the privilege of completing at the College, including the Addition/Renovation at the Blake Law Center completed in 2008 and the New Southwood Hall Dormitory completed in 2009.
