Fontaine Awarded New Franklin Regional Transit Center

Fontaine Bros. has been awarded the contract to build the new Franklin Regional Transit Center in Greenfield, MA. The new 24,000 square foot, $10 million project is being hailed as the new "hub" of transportation for the Greenfield area and town administrators expect that it will bring additional growth to the area.
The building was designed by Charles Rose Architects of Somerville, MA as a Net Zero building, meaning that at the end of the year the building will have produced more energy than it will have used. Some features that contribute to the building's energy efficiency include a geothermal system, a biomass boiler, and 6,000 square feet of photovoltaic panels.
